Hardcover with red decorated boards and pictorial dustjacket, first edition, 964gms, 192 pages, includes 300 illustrations. The 300 Victorian flower paintings recently discovered in the attic at Frampton Court in Gloucestershire represent one of the earliest and most intriguing collections of amateur flower paintings found to date. Produced by the Clifford and Purnell girls, they are bold, exactly observed, and beautifully and skilfully executed. This book is the author's account of the wild flowers, the painters themselves and their paintings, as well as a record of the English countryside in the early 19th century. Book is in very good condition with minor general wear and tear. Dust jacket is in good condition with only mild shelf wear. The book has been covered in plastic and stuck down to boards for protection, otherwise no other pre-loved markings.
